Rainbow Radish Cucumber Salad Recipe – Fresh from the Garden

John from www.growingyourgreens.com shares with you how he uses his freshly harvested Watermelon Radishes, and Purple Plum Radishes.. Radishes are most commoly used as Crudités, or sliced ontop salads… Not any more.. In this episode, you will learn how John centers his salad around Radishes, and processes them it in a unique way to make long spaghetti-like strands out of his radishes to create a delicious rainbow radish cucumber salad that is delicious and nutritious.

  1. Great video.

  2. LOL @ “We always had them with salads but is that the only way to eat them?” And then you show us a salad recipe. Just picking on you. Great recipe. Thanks!

  3. John, the spiral slicer is really nice, do you have any hand blenders? They are amazing!

  4. I’ve been married 45 years! I could use some spice in my life! hahahaha This looks good. I’m going to have to try this one for sure.

  5. Wow. I really like the that slicer. Very fancy and good exercise for the arms.

  6. Hey, Jon do you save all your seeds?

  7. Technically I ment used sliced in salads (or in Crudités). It was funny.. I was with my bro at a buffet and he got some “commercial’ sliced radishes with his salad. He then came over and tasted some of my rainbow radishes.. He could definetly taste that they were better.

  8. I do not save “ALL” my seeds. I save a good portion of my seeds. There are several reasons for this. I will cover this in the next Q&A session.

  9. That machine is cool. your right by changing the texture it make that taste different.

  10. I have only ever saw one hand blender – the GSI Vortex, which I use to offer.. Until I broke two handles on the same blended smoothie.. it could not handle my everyday “use”. I figure they are for people that want to make mixxed drinks at a tailgate party, and not for serious use. If you find any other brands, please let me know and I will look into them.

  11. @growingyourgreens You must have a boat load. I think you would get a thumbs up by Gordon Ramsey on this video you should make more of these. Sometimes people run out of things to do with there gardens and these type of videos are great. I like them.

  12. When did you move, or is this your winter home? I remember seeing a previous video on setting up these beds, but I thought it was for someone else. Thanks for the demo.

  13. YUM! Spiraling the veggies will make kids want to eat them.

  14. look so dalish

  15. That cucumber looks like a tape worm, lol, probably wontg wanna mention that while tryna sell em though, lol, great vid once again john 🙂

  16. YUMMY!!!!

  17. I could eat like that every night. Arugula is a great choice for a salad. I am going to try to grow some melon radishes and plum radishes this spring… The place I plant is super heavy clay because it was a pond before the house was put in. Do you think rock dust would make much of a difference in the clay soil? Or do you think I should just amend it once a year with compost and then wizz water? I am thinking clay soil are already loaded with minerals. (Our water has heavy lime deposits too.)

  18. John. That looks deeelish!! I have a couple of “spiralizers.” Think I got a deal on buying a couple together. It is fun to have different textures. I laughed when you passed on using the “spicy” radish greens and went for the “spicy” arugula greens right next to them. I ordered a hand cranked food processor. Might come tomorrow. I’ll let you know how I like it when I get it. I don’t know how to post a video yet, but might have to learn for this kind of thing. Thanks for the great recipe.

  19. the tomatoes in the store taste like water, OMG. Even mom agrees and shes not a gardener. So I will plant her a garden this 2012 planting season

  20. YUMMY!
