Growing Vegetables in an uncommon container: Part 1

One of the things that is almost highly accessible to grow plants in is a container. I’m going to show you how I made use of a plastic container that has lots of holes to grow vegetables in. Enjoy! čÖé Check me out on Facebook: www.facebook.com

  1. Hey, Jane, nice basket!
Did you poke holes in the bottom of the plastic´╗┐ bag, too?

  2. Thanks! =)´╗┐

  3. Yup, I sure did. I had´╗┐ a feeling I edited something off, and you just reminded me what I left out! Lol. I guess I’ll add annotations in the video to say that I did that. Thanks for reminding me! ^^

  4. Awesome! How gratifying´╗┐ to see such quick results! čśÇ

  5. I figured you did! čÖé
When I lined a wooden barrel with plastic, I stapled the plastic to the wood, filled with mix, and then trimmed the plastic so it would be hidden. ´╗┐ Then I poked holes last, and it was ready to go!

  8. Nice way of recycling´╗┐ jane! čśÇ great video

  9. Nice! They germinated´╗┐ so fast! čśÇ

  10. Nice idea jane about the container, but you should also try using news paper´╗┐ instead of that plastic it will provide much better drainage and i think you might have drainage problem with this plastic,

  11. Only 4 days to germination absolutely wonderful´╗┐ : )

  12. Thankyou for yet another great´╗┐ video! They germinated so quickly! čÖé

  13. Great resourceful´╗┐ idea!

  14. So cool! It is like a movie, when you see the best part and you need to wait until commercials´╗┐ are done =)

  15. Thank you!´╗┐ =D

  16. i’ve´╗┐ always wanted to do this for my project.. rooftop vegetable garden here in jeddah…. thanks for the upload!

  17. I understand your concern. The´╗┐ first ingredient the bags are made of are Ethane which is a natural gas. Then Ethane is then converted into Ethylene through a process of thermal cracking which is an organic compound. Ethylene is then processed to make Polyethylene. Polyethylene is mainly made of petroleum and natural gas. All plastic that is used today all started with Ethane. Even very hard sturdy containers vs very thin plastic bags went through the same process. ^^

  18. here is an idea if you do have drainage problems line the bottom with just newspaper/cardboard and the sides with the garbage bag as I think the heat captured from both the plastic of the container and the bag acted like a green house heating up the soil.´╗┐ I could be wrong though just a thought čÖé gardening programs like these can have long commercial breaks depending on what is grown čśë lol

  19. I was kind of shy to show my cukes growing in a basket, something´╗┐ like your method. Not any more, I will upload a pic to Fb today. Very nice idea! čÖé

  20. @MyInspiredCreation You fail to list the´╗┐ toxic chemicals used in the plastic manufacturing process not to forget color pigments. I would suggest trying a fiber basket´╗┐ liner instead.

  21. I want to´╗┐ see!!! ^^

  22. I have posted the pics of my basket in Everything Gardening and´╗┐ Youtube in the photo section.

  23. Can you PM me the link? There’s so´╗┐ many pictures in there… LOL. ^^
